This Week in Fashion: 4th-8th July

1. It's hats off for Couture

Couture Week kicked off in Paris this week with fashion's finest/modern millionaires lining up to see the designers latest super-luxe offerings. All eyes were on Dior and their first Couture collection not designed by John Galliano in 15 years. Unfortunately Bill Gaytten and Susanna Venegas, who are heading up the design team, failed to adequately fill the Galliano-shaped hole, with several collection critics agreeing the show lacked restraint, polish and any clear vision. With Dior yet to announce the successor, fingers crossed this fashion house great can find it's way in time for next season. My personal highlight was the medieval display courtesy of A-list favourite Valentino. With sheer, light embroidery and models with bejewelled gold bands in their hair, it was romantic opulence as it's best. Now to get myself a red carpet invite...

 2. Show me the money

SJP and Angelina Jolie came joint top in Forbes' ranking of Hollywood's richest actresses, with annual earnings of $30 million. Jolie equates her dollar to takings from Salt and The Tourist (did this movie not massively bomb? Ricky Gervais at the Golden Globes seemed to think so) while Sarah Jessica Parker's fortune is down to SATC re-runs...and her perfume. Er right. Time for a change of career anyone?

3. Lady in Red

Natalia Vodianova hosted her annual Love Ball in aid of the Naked Heart Foundation, who help kids in deprived areas. Calling in her old friend Valentino to transform his Chateau Wideville into a winter wonderland, 45 of the world's top designers agreed to created fairy-tale inspired gowns for the evenings auction. As belle of the ball, the Russian beauty wore Valentino red; Little Red Riding Hood of course. Loving the Rapunzel-esque plait.

4.Girls Allowed

Rumour from Paris has it that two models-in-demand are dating. That's right, Freja and Arizona Muse are said to be hooking up amidst editorials, catwalks and the like. Talk about a hot new couple...
5. A* for Alexa

Trying to resist posting about 'festival street style' but always been a gigantic/dedicated/loyal fan and am loving her latest festival looks. Does Chung actually just get paid to dress up in good clothes and party? Jel. dot. com.

Loving the Tuxedo style with her trusty Barbour

Some say Amish, I say 70s perfection with a hint of Paddington Bear

Love the quilted leather jacket and the hybrid footwear of wedge/clog

It's the quintessential Chungster combo of leopard print, denim hot pants, fedora and a Chanel bag
