Vive La France

Brigitte Bardot, Coco Chanel, Francois Hardy...you only need to look back at iconic Frenchies to know they have a certain 'je ne sais quoi' when it comes to style. There's also the added bonus of a super hawt accent and an all-round more magnifique allure.

With Vanessa Paradis gracing the latest cover of Vogue and Josephine de la Baume the face of Mango's newest campaign; not to mention the likes of Clémence P and Lou Doillon partying their way across the fashion circuit, les filles are having a moment.

And it's not just the girls, as Parisien style and French fashion brands are also making their way across the Channel. Thanks to a sartorial seal of approval from Alexa Chung, Carven is securing a cult following with his Peter Pan collars and sculpted dresses.

And a personal favourite to hit the high street is The Kooples.  Founded by the family who brought us Comptoir des Cotonniers, it’s rather Brit rock and androgynous, with tuxedo blazers, military jackets, suede shorts and of course lashings of leather.

Equally in love with their advertising campaign, kooples is Parisien slang for couples – so with a streak of marketing genius, they've snapped real-life couples looking a little too cool for school in Kooples swag.

And finally, the brainchild of two French fashion greats - Mr Karl Lagerfield and Carine Roitfeld.

Collaborating to produce one of my favourite Chanel advertisements to date, it features model of the moment, Freja Beha Erichsen, dressed in a boiler suit complete with camellia cat ears. Anything embossed with the CC logo gets a hearty thumbs up from me; add feline frolics in a photo booth and it's sheer genius.

Ps. One thing France could work on - they have over 400 kinds of cheese and they also invented the baguette, yet they were never able to make the connection and invent a sandwich.
