This Week In Fashion: 8th-12th August

1.September's Out

It's a battle of the September covers as the biggest issue of the year hits newsstands. Kudos to Harpers Bazaar for capitalising on Beyoncé-mania with their seductive cover.

Another favourite is LOVE's supernatural-themed selection, shot by legendary photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. Propelling Hollywood's mini starlets into further stardom, step forward Elle Fanning, Chloe Moretz and Hailee Steinfeld.

2.  And another...

Can't really mention September issues without mentioning 'The One', yes, American Vogue aka the Kate Moss Wedding Special. Thoughts?

a) The ridiculously good looking posse of bridesmaids, flower girls and pageboys. Are they child models handpicked by Testino? Under-age airbrushing? Named and shamed are Merry Magic Cutler and Poppy Spaceman. Good genes, silly names.

b) The Mick and Bianca Jagger mock up. Simon Chilvers from the Guardian adequately puts it; 'This picture is particularly brilliant when you think of all the shots of Moss over the years in the backs of cabs cackling, smoking like a chimney and generally living it like the good-time-London gal she's always been.'

c) Lastly, heiress to the Moss throne has had her first photoshoot with ol' mum. Granted it's a slightly bizarre topless picture, but she's gained those incredible peepers and suprisingly doesn't look too brat-like. Yet.

3. Tweetbeat

Love it or hate it, Twitter has caused a furore of late amidst the riots/phone hacking/superinjunction scandals (Britain's great, right?). With @RiotCleanUp and #OperationCupOfTea sparking a resurgence of much-needed community spirit, everyone's signing up to get their fill of the action. And the fash pack are getting in on the act too. Funniest account goes to Conde Elevator, reporting from inside the lifts of Conde Nast, the New-York based publishing house. A hilarious insight into the world of mega-powered fashion and yes, it's a little Devil Wears Prada...

4. Politics gets a make-over

In a week where Cameron and co have received a mild ammount of bad press (the sounds of breaking glass were finally heard over in Italy) and the fashion scored nil point (the Big O in LA with a backpack and what looked like kickers), Harpers Bazaar have re-invented the Thatcher era with the help of Georgia May Jagger. It's all about an 80s revival with big hair and picket-wielding punks.

Boris could potentially work his gold spun locks into the bouffant, no?
